Eleanor E May

Eleanor Elizabeth May, of Port Huron Township, died Monday, October 30, 2023.

Eleanor was a life-long member of St. John’s United Church of Christ. She was a long-time member of the YMCA and enjoyed swimming, racquetball, tennis, golf, Bridge and Poker. She loved gardening, holidays and family gatherings. She was very proud of her Hungarian heritage and especially liked the family Memorial Day tradition of “Szalonna” or “Shoot the Bacon” which involved making flame-grilled bacon sandwiches. Ellie was an amazing hostess and always the life of any party. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and was looking forward to her first grandchild’s wedding this weekend, which she’ll be watching from heaven.

She is survived by her husband, Donald May; three sons, Gregory (Kate) May, Douglas (Pamela) May and Todd (Sara) May; seven grandchildren, Tucker May, Allison May, Emily May (fiancé Chad Hawkes), Sarah May (fiancé Jake Cliff), Caitlin May, Casey (Travis) Kirtzman and Erin (Austin) Woodruff; sister, Marion Wilkinson; dear nieces, Joan Dimmick and Linda Falk; and several other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Rose Balogh; and two siblings, Margaret Pappas and Andy Balogh.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, November 1, 2023 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 2, 2023 in St. John’s United Church of Christ. The Reverend William Wingrove will officiate.

Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.
