Charles "Dave" Downey

Charles “Dave” Downey, 62, of Port Huron, died Monday, October 30, 2023.

He was born September 24, 1961 in Yale. He married Valerie Jean Lemon on April 27, 1985 in Yale and they were married for 34 years until her death on June 4, 2019.

Dave graduated from Yale High School and worked in the screw department at LM Gear for 16 years. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle (and even won a few races in his younger years), fishing, hunting (especially for turkeys) and watching football. He also liked gambling and hanging out with his buddies.

He is survived by three daughters, Nicole Downey, Camille (Joe) Kesner, and Vicki (Brandon) Moppin; 8 grandchildren, Justice and Jaxon Parker, Ava and Courtney Downey, Carter and Spencer Kesner, and Maddalynn and Benjamin Moppin; sister, Shannon (Duane) King; brother, Brian Morgan; best friends, Jim “Shim” Horning and Jim Hartzell; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Edna, and step-father, Alsey “Mac” Morgan, who was like a father to Dave.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Friday, November 3, 2023 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Shaun Laurain will officiate.

Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Port Huron Township.
