Gloria J Henry
Gloria Jean Henry, 66, of Fort Gratiot, Michigan died peacefully on Monday, October 30, 2023.
She was born February 16, 1957 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania to Vincent and Clara Kolarik. Her passion for education and learning earned her multiple graduate and undergraduate degrees at Sewickley Valley Hospital School of Nursing and La Roche University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania before studying at Eastern Michigan and Saginaw Valley State University.
Gloria held the position of principal at the Port Huron Area School District and continued as the GED Coordinator after her retirement. Her love and concern for all her students was well known throughout the school district.
She always believed in the concept of moving one’s life forward and challenging oneself in all aspects of life. Her friends and family will remember her as a passionate and caring individual. She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Sara, who she loved unconditionally. Their times together were always filled with adventure but also sharing and growth. She loved her small garden and the excitement of spring growth, trying new and exotic foods and long walks and car trips with her dog Kiva. Gloria had an insatiable thirst for life and lived it to its limits. We will always remember how she changed so many lives around her. Her spirit will live on in all of our lives.
She is survived by her daughter, Sara Arminda Henry; sister, Patricia (George) Kolarik Ott; nephew, Jonathan Ott and his wife, Hannah; and grandniece, Nora Ott. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry; and son, Nathan Henry.
A memorial event will be announced at a later date.
