Patricia Elizabeth McLane, 82, of Clyde Township, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 3, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born March 29, 1941 in East Detroit, Michigan to the late Bert A. and Amelia W. Phillips. Patricia was an avid snowmobiler and loved her trips to Northern Michigan which is where she met and fell in love with her husband Jack E. McLane Jr. Pat and Jack were married on May 6, 1983 in St. John's United Church of Christ.
Patricia attended Central Michigan University to pursue her dream of education. Pat taught 3rd grade for the Port Huron Area School District for 35 years and retired from Indian Woods Elementary School in 2018. Pat adored her students. She could always be seen at school and athletic events across Port Huron cheering on and taking photos of her current and former students. Sharing these memories and newspaper clippings with her students brought her great joy over the years. Pat had many hobbies and favorite things, however her most favorite was time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Grandma Pat was their biggest cheerleader and memory maker. She instilled a love for chocolate, of course, making special homemade chocolates for every grandchild. She cherished her time with family which included taking trips to the beach, camping, scrapbooking and time at the zoo. Pat loved visiting the zoo wherever she traveled, and was a life time member of the Detroit Zoological Society. Her grandkids loved their trips to the zoo with Grandma Pat, and could not wait to see her photos after their trips and her beautiful zoo scrapbooks. Scrapbooking was another hobby and career for Pat. She loved to capture her memories in photo scrapbooks and was a Creative Memories consultant for many years, helping all of her friends and family create lasting memories to share for years to come. Here favorite scrapbook time was her annual Scrapbook weekend in Lakeport with all of her friends and many family members over the years. It was a huge undertaking and she had it down to a science. They spent the entire weekend making memories and of course pages and pages of beautiful scrapbooks. Pat was the happiest spending time with Jack and their family traveling in their RV and around the world. They took an annual trip to Gulf Shores in their RV and had many trips with their girls and grandchildren to Cedar Point, weekends at Lakeport State Park, snowmobiling across Northern Michigan and motorcycle adventures on their Honda Goldwing and Harley Davidson. She was such a talented photographer as well, and was a member of the Shutterbug Camera Club. Pat could be found many weekends at different craft shows where she sold her beautiful photos. Pat was also a member of St. John's United Church of Christ for over 50 years and a longtime member of Women's Life in Port Huron where she volunteered and served on the board for many years. Pat was a strong, loving and giving woman who will be missed by many, and Jack most of all.
She is survived by the love of her life of 40 years, Jack; daughters, Mary (Troy) Clark, Heather McLane and Darlene (Scott) Dresch; grandchildren, Troy Walker, Sara (William) Bortolini, Kate (Ashley) Nieman, Kayla Clark, Amber Kleeves, Brooke (Zachary) Haack, Jordyn Dresch, Nolan Dresch, Robie (Mariah) Webster, Jennifer (Mark) Lashbrook, April McFarlane, Haley (Terry) Lozano, Jordyn Clark and Cameron Clark; adopted grandchildren, Anna and Christina Thoen and Amber Duncan; 17 great grandchildren; siblings, Gary Bert (Dawn) Phillips, Chuck (Faye “Faith”) Phillips and Sharon (Richard) Varty; sister-in-law, Sheila Phillips; and all the wonderful caretakers over the years, especially Donna, Theresa, Kate and Amber. She was preceded in death by her great granddaughter, Aziya Ann Marie Walker; brother, Bill Phillips; and nephew, Shawn Phillips.
