Mildred A "Millie" McElroy

Mildred Ann “Millie” McElroy, 95, of Fort Gratiot, died Sunday, November 5, 2023. She was born July 20, 1928 in Port Huron to the late Edmund and Emma Pickard. She married Robert McElroy on October 22, 1949 in North Street. He preceded her in death on July 17, 2007 after 57 years of marriage. Millie was employed as a cook with the Port Huron Area School District for 17 years, retiring in August 1990. She loved to play cards, paint, watch the birds and work in her garden. She was an amazing cook. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Partridge; son, Jim McElroy; six grandchildren, Chad (Bonnie) Partridge, Matthew West, Jaime (Zachary) Bouwens, Andrea (Jason) Cornell, Jaclyn (Jon) Nelson and Jayme (Joshua) LeDoux; eight great grandchildren; sisters, Alice Harris and Jean (Jim) McLeod; one sister-in-law, Delores Pickard; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Diane West; two sons-in-law, Bernard West and James Partridge; grandson, Nathan West; two brothers, Vern (Betty) Pickard and William Pickard; and brother-in-law, Herb Harris. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, November 9, 2023 in Marysville United Methodist Church, 721 W. Huron Blvd., Marysville, with visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. The Reverend Curtis Clarke will officiate, assisted by the Reverend James McLeod. Private family graveside services will be held in Burtchville Township Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chad Partridge, Matt West, Zachary Bouwens, John Nelson, Jason Cornell, Tom, Fred and Bill Murray, Ed and Bill Pickard and Patrick Hurd. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Harris and Bill Murray.
