Ernest Marone

Ernest Mack Marone, 63, of Fort Gratiot Township finally made his great escape on Sunday, November 12, 2023 and is finally free after spending five years at Regency on the Lake.

He was born May 19, 1960 in Fort Myers, Florida.

Ernie was a jack of all trades who worked as a process server most recently. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years. Ernie loved cigarettes, Coca-Cola and beer and enjoyed listening to loud rock-n-roll music. He also liked watching the Detroit Tigers and looked forward to his visits from Missy Moo and Moose.

He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Marone of Houghton Lake; grandsons, Jayden and Konnor; five siblings, Becky (Chris) Bruch of Nevada, Joe (Holly) Marone of South Carolina, John Marone (Julie Rock) of New York, Liz (John) Falk of Port Huron and Michael (Michele) Marone of Oscoda; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard T. and M. Joanne Marone; and his beloved dog, Nicky.

Private family services will be held.

Ernest’s family wishes to thank Regency on the Lake for their wonderful care over the last five years, especially Stephanie, Michelle, Shelly, Melissa, Jennifer, George, Lindsay and so many others who were wonderful to Ernie. They also want to thank Ernie’s friends, Jay and Maggie, for taking such good care of him for 12 years prior.
