The Lord took The Reverend Robert Mann, 81, of Port Huron, to his heavenly home on Sunday, December 3, 2023. He was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, on July 25, 1942, to Reverend Joseph and Walda Mann. After receiving his Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri, he married Joan Pohanka on June 1, 1968, whom he had met while serving his vicarage in Grand Rapids, Michigan (1966).
During his 39 years of ministry, Bob served congregations in Moore, Oklahoma; Sidney, British Columbia; and Big Rapids, Sand Lake, and Port Huron, Michigan. He was pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church from 1987 until his retirement in 2007. During his career, he also served as a pastor in campus ministry, a chairman of the Michigan District Mission Board, an adjunct instructor for Concordia University, Ann Arbor, and a member of several local community organizations.
Bob was an enthusiastic outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, gardening, and bike riding. His biggest joy in retirement was the ability to travel to all fifty states and more than 15 countries around the world with his family. He also loved painting landscapes of his ventures and recently exhibited a sample of his work this past November at Trinity Lutheran Church. A deeply spiritual man, his favorite day of the week was Sunday when he could worship his Lord.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; his daughter, Ruth (Albert) Pionke; his son David (Shalini); his siblings, Vic (Sue) Mann, Ruth (Steve) Engel, and Janet (Bill) Predeek; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
