Robert L "Bob" Dell

Robert L. “Bob” Dell, 93, of Fort Gratiot, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, December 3, 2023.

He was born October 10, 1930 in Port Huron Township to the late John and Ada Dell. He married Mary Louise Bynum on July 7, 1956 in Port Huron. She preceded him in death on March 24, 2022.

Bob served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. After his service, he was a welder and car inspector for Grand Trunk Western Railroad for 42 years prior to his retirement. In addition to working at the railroad, he sharpened saws for 52 years. He enjoyed traveling, camping, model train sets, watching and playing baseball, biking, and going to Navy reunions. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He attended Colonial Woods Missionary Church.

He is survived by two children, Patti (Thomas) Tibble and David (Jette) Dell; grandchildren, John (Bethany) Tibble, Sarah (Austin) McCollum and Amelia Dell; great grandchildren, Maisley Tibble, Riley and Parker McCollum; sister, Shirley (Alan) Crawford; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert J. Dell in 1963.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, December 8, 2023 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with a visitation beginning at 11:30 a.m. The Reverend Phil Whetstone will officiate.

Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Navy and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
