Persel Gordon Fitz, 101, of Wales Township, died Monday, December 18, 2023.
He was born January 28, 1922 in Wales Township to the late Edward J. and Mable B. Fitz.
Persel was born and raised in his family’s farmhouse and was a proud American farmer. He was a lifetime member of Lamb Global Methodist Church and a member of Smith’s Creek Lodge #491 F. & A.M. and several area tractor clubs.
He is survived by his daughters, Karen and Carol Fitz; brother, Ross Fitz; nephew, David (Merry) Fitz; and nieces, Claire (Tom) Jackson, Nancy (Gerald) Black and Janice (David) Benson; the children of the late Squire and Wilda Fitz; and best friend, Eugene Haley and his family. He was preceded in death by two wives, Alice and Eileen; and sister-in-law, Barbara Fitz.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, December 21, 2023 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. A Masonic Service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 22, 2023 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Scott Clark will officiate.
Burial will be in Lambs Cemetery, Wales Township. Pallbearers will be Harold Rogan, Richard Hemby, Brian Haley, Tommy Rankin, Brad Fitz, Gary Fitz, Jr., Rod McCue and Mike Fraley. Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Wessel, Paul Rucinski and Terry Maki.
The family would like to extend extra thanks to Harmony Cares Hospice, to Dottie Barnes and her girls for their caregiving and to Rod and Karyn McCue for their help.
