Obituary

The Reverend Sandra Jean Woodard, 76, of Port Huron, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 18, 2024.

She was born October 4, 1947 in Detroit to the late Richard and Josephine Echols.

Sandra received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees and taught school in Detroit for several years before going on to become executive director of the Boys and Girls Club of America for 30 years. Sandra was a minister with the A.M.E. Church for over 30 years, most recently serving at the St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Port Huron. She loved music, playing the piano and organ. She especially enjoyed watching Jeopardy, King of the Hill, Seinfeld, Survivor and Big Brother.

She leaves to mourn her passing her children, Kyra Woodard (Micki Riddley-Woodard) and Brandon Woodard; grandson, Aaron Meadows (Symone Moultrie); great grandchild, Kayden Meadows; siblings, Gwendolyn Herring, Delbert (Sandy) Echols, Kenric Echols and Felicia (Herb) Hayden; many nieces and nephew, including Briana Hayden and Shameka Herring; as well as many cousins and a host of other relatives.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, January 27, 2024 in Restoration Christian Community Church with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Dr. Carl E. Miller Sr. will officiate.

Burial will be in Detroit Memorial Park West, Plymouth, Michigan.
