Phyllis "Joan" Prevost

April 3rd, 1930 to January 27th, 2024

Phyllis “Joan” Prevost, 93, of Port Huron and formerly of Marysville, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2024.

She was born April 3, 1930 in Sarnia, Ontario to the late Harley and Marguerite Scriver. The family loved hearing stories Joan told of her youth in Port Huron. Joan graduated from Port Huron High School in 1948. After graduation Joan met her life love and partner, Richard “Dick” Prevost, on a blind date. Their love was strong enough to pull him off the Freighters he was sailing on in the Great Lakes. They married on July 16, 1949 at St. Christopher Catholic Church in Marysville.

Joan and Dick owned and operated Rosie-Jo Ceramics. This was a wonderful place for Joan to share and teach her love of crafts. They also owned Port Huron Pop Shop. Joan was a successful realtor in the Blue Water Area for many years. She helped numerous families reach their goals and didn't shy away from lending a helping hand. She was a prolific quilter, making many for her family and friends. Joan made wonderful Christmas cookie boxes yearly for all to enjoy. Joan had a spunk and spirit that made those around her feel loved and cared for. She was a friend to many and a mom to more than just her three sons. She was loved deeply by family. Her long life was a treasure and she will be deeply missed by all.

Joan is survived by her husband of 74 years, Richard; two sons, Michael (Jan) Prevost and Joseph (Debra) Prevost; daughter-in-law, Debra Prevost; eight grandchildren, Michelle (Adam) Stanczak, Sue (Justin) Gillis-Brooks, Stephanie (Shawn) Warn, Colin Prevost, Cameron (Kellie) Prevost, Jennifer (Wes) Peyerk, Martin (Dana) Prevost and Matthew (Kelsie) Prevost; 20 great grandchildren, Spencer, Taylor, Stella, Trevor, Gage, Gwen, Lucas, Nolan, Vann, Maggie, Jenevieve, Cole, Paisley, Joslyn, Emma, Morgan, Faith, Charlie, Drew and Matthew; her sister, Sharon (Ralph) Mangiante; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her son, Martin Prevost; and two brothers, Ronald and Wayne Scriver.
