Gloria J Johnston

August 29th, 1940 to January 28th, 2024

Gloria Janet Johnston, 83, of Port Huron, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 28, 2024.

She was born August 29, 1940 in Port Huron to the late Glen and Orena Krampien. She married William R. Johnston on December 9, 1961 in Port Huron. He preceded her in death on April 16, 2018 after a wonderful 56 years of marriage.

Gloria was employed for many years as a special education secretary for the Port Huron Area School District. She was an active member of Griswold Street Baptist Church, where she served at one time as a choir member and as a youth leader. She was Sunday School secretary and also assisted with bookkeeping for offering. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, doing crossword puzzles, snow shoveling, traveling and hiking with the family, and journaling. Her journals of daily events in the lives of her family date back decades. She was known for her smile and laugh (“giggle”), and her life reflected her deep love for the LORD. She will be greatly missed by all those who loved her.

She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Johnston; sister, Clarine Krohn; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Fred Belger, Jan Krampien, Harriet Sengar, Charles (Maria) Johnston, Dr. Nancy Marshall, Stephen Johnston, Donald Shevnock and Carol Johnston; several nieces and nephews; and great-niece, Avery Westbrook, with whom she had a very special bond. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Sharon Belger, Connie (Marv) Young and Frieda (Roy) Moses; a brother, Earl Krampien; mother, Orena; father, Glen; stepmother, Nettie; sister-in-law, Kathleen Shevnock; and a brother-in-law, Michael Johnston.
