Gwen A McCracken

Gwen Ann McCracken, 80, of North Street, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born September 24, 1943 in Detroit to the late Norman and Eleanor Curtis. She married Stanley R. McCracken on October 26, 1963 in Roseville. He preceded her in death on October 28, 2004.

Gwen worked as a cook at the St. Clair County Jail, was a mail carrier with the North Street Post Office and helped at the laundromat in Wadhams. She was also a caregiver to family member over the years. Gwen was a member of St. Edward on the Lake Catholic Church where she sang in the church choir and volunteered for many years. Gwen was a Past State Commander of the DAV Auxiliary and served as a National Adjutant with the DAV Auxiliary.

She is survived by three children, Scott (Brenda) McCracken, Kelly (David) Wille and Sean (Giget) McCracken; grandchildren, Christina (Doug) Bean, Scotty (Alex) McCracken, Tiffany (Nate) Welsh, Melissa McCracken (Matt Allen), Sarah Wille, Nicole (Aaron) Coates, Christopher Wille, Shane McCracken, Willa McCracken and Ian McCracken; 15 great grandchildren; sister, Lynn Beaudin; brother, Kevin Curtis; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Greg Curtis.

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, February 18, 2024 and 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, February 19, 2024 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 in St. Edward on the Lake Catholic Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Lee Acervo will officiate.

Burial will be in Kinney Cemetery, Clyde Township. Pallbearers will be Shane McCracken, Christopher Wille, Matt Allen, Scotty McCracken, Doug Bean and Nate Welsh.
