Gerald Leon Sweet, 74, of Port Huron, died Thursday, February 15, 2024 unexpectedly after surgery.
He was born November 19, 1949, in Flint, to the late Junior R. and Loretta M. Sweet. He married Elizabeth A. McDougal in July 1979 in Flint, Michigan. After 36 years of marriage, Liz preceded him in death on December 10, 2015. Jerry was introduced to Jean S. Hall by mutual friends and after a first date at Barnes and Noble, they knew that they had both found love again. They were married on August 17, 2019.
Jerry’s passion was the construction trades, and he was always tinkering with something. In 1994, Jerry and Liz took over her father’s construction company, Kahmann Construction, and operated it together for many years. Jerry was active with Great Dane Rescue and enjoyed golfing, skiing, boating, planning and going on vacations, and winning at casinos. Jerry’s most recent project was building his dream home in Key Largo, Florida with Jean.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; step-son, Bobby Hall; two brothers, Tracey (Yvonne) Sweet and John “Randy” (Mary) Sweet; numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and many very special nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
