Tim D Sassanella
Tim David Sassanella, 77, of Port Huron Township, died Monday, February 19, 2024 in Marwood Nursing and Rehab after a courageous fight with Parkinson’s Disease.
He was born January 7, 1947 in Port Huron to the late Martin and Grace Sassanella. He married Karen Gobel on July 16, 1966 in Port Huron.
Tim was a 1965 graduate of Port Huron High School. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. During his career he was a manager at Burger King in Port Huron, a truck driver for Roth and Deng Supply Company and became a salesman selling institutional food and coffee, retiring from Roselli Foods. He was an avid baseball player and bowler, bowling a perfect 300 game. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching Michigan sports. Tim served as a park board member for Port Huron Township for 38 years.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Karen; two children, Timothy (Dean Charrington) Sassanella and Lynette (John) McCombs; two grandchildren, Amelia and Kenzie McCombs; sister, Cindy (James) Wier; nephew, Aaron (Lisa) Dortman; niece, Brie Dortman (Michael Crusskan); cousin, Jane (Allen) Warsinske; and life-long friends, Eileen and Gerald Ward. He was preceded in death by his sister, Gayle Dortman; and brother, Gregg Sassanella.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 23, 2024 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. David Collins will officiate.
Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Port Huron Township.
