Donald E Morris
Donald Eugene Morris, 88, of Port Huron Township, died Sunday, March 10, 2024.
He was born November 6, 1935 in Goodells to the late Pearl and Clara Morris. He married Nancy Ingles on June 29, 1957 in Port Huron.
Donald graduated from Marysville High School in 1955 and played the bass drum in the band. He was employed with Port Huron Paper for 40 years prior to his retirement. Donald was a longtime member of St. John’s United Church of Christ where he served as a trustee, sang in the Chancel and Men’s Choirs, attended the Tuesday Morning Men’s Group and was an Envisioner and Chairman of the Walkway Committee. He was involved as a band booster, serving as president at Port Huron Central and a member at Port Huron High School. Donald also was a member of the Wales Township Historical Society.
He enjoyed tinkering with things, fixing and reselling bikes and lawnmowers, often having repeat customers. He built many floats, drove his car in parades and also built his own dune buggy. Donald enjoyed snowmobiling with friends, loved to travel, show tractors and dance at weddings. He was also a Christmas yard decorating award member.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Nancy; six children, Donna (Bill) Orr, Randall (Jean) Morris, Anita (Tom) Crimmins, Dan (Teri) Morris, Leann (Scott) Shepherd and Bradley (Renee) Morris; 19 grandchildren, Michael Orr, Theresa (Philip) Spencer, Robert (Angela) Orr, Sarah (Jerald) Johnson, Troy Morris, Alissa (Clayton) Latham, Christopher Crimmins, Steven Crimmins, Jeffrey (Kaity) Crimmins, Emily Crimmins, Katelyn (Eric) Cirksena, Kristen (Carson) Smith, Andrew Morris, Kaylen Shepherd, Raegan Shepherd, Madilyn Morris (Austin Western), Douglas Morris, Lukas Morris and Ryan Morris; 10 great grandchildren, Mason, Emma, Patrick, Charlotte, Gabriel, William, Bejamin, Samuel, Sawyer and Weslie; brother-in-law, Ronald Ingles; sister-in-law, Judy Ingles; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Cocoa.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Milton and Harold Morris; and sisters, Marie Bailey and Jacquelyn Morris.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 in St. John’s United Church of Christ with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend William Wingrove will officiate.
Burial will be in Kinney Cemetery, Clyde Township. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
