Alan C Hancock

Alan Curtis Hancock, 74, of Clyde Township, died in his sleep on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.

He was born February 8, 1950 in Detroit to the late Herman E. and Jeanne C. Hancock. He married Sharon R. McCloskey on October 30, 1976 in Wyandotte.

Al graduated from Lincoln Park High School in 1968 and began working for Detroit Edison at the River Rouge plant in 1970. He later transferred to the Belle River plant and worked there as a Supervising Operator until his retirement in 2012 after over 40 years with Edison. Al proudly served his country in the National Guard. He was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed fishing and sailing. Al was a crewmember for many years aboard the boat, Thrasher, and completed several Port Huron to Mackinac sailboat races. When he couldn’t be outdoors, he spent time in his shop woodworking.

Al is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sharon; two sons, Brian (Judy) Hancock and Scott (Ronnee) Hancock; four grandchildren, Phillip, Joseph and Kerissa Hancock, and Erin (Michael) Brown; several great grandchildren; a brother, Donald (April) Hancock; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother, William (Carol) Hancock.

Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard and the U.S. Air Force at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2024 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. A memorial visitation will follow until 4:00 p.m. The family is planning to host friends for a meal following the visitation.
