Howard W "Bud" Medford

August 2nd, 1939 to March 23rd, 2024

Howard Wiley “Bud” Medford, 84, of St. Clair, died Saturday, March 23, 2024.

He was born August 2, 1939 in Canton, North Carolina to the late Fred and Ella Medford. He married Judy Ann Lefler on November 2, 1963 in East Pointe.

Bud attended Detroit Public Schools, graduating from East Detroit High School and later Highland Park Community College. He was a systems analyst with General Motors for 27 years and retired on May 16, 1996. Howard was a proud U.S. Army Veteran.

His love of horses began a long career of showing them on the quarter horse circuit. He was very involved in St. Clair County 4H and was a leader for many years. He helped manage and coach the Marysville Little League as well as the Marysville Wrestling Team.

Bud loved the LORD and was an active member of Hillside Wesleyan Church. He was instrumental in bringing pickleball to Hillside for all to enjoy. Bud and Judy loved to travel and spent many winters in Florida and on St. Simons Island, Georgia.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Judy; two sons, Toby (Jennifer) and Jody (Daniella) Medford; grandchildren, Connor, Jack, Mitchell, Elijah, Lexie and Emily Medford and Sam, Amanda and Molly Stephenson; great grandchildren, Baylee, Dexton, and Emery; and brother-in-law, Carl Lefler. Bud adored his grandchildren and was so proud of all their accomplishments.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 in Hillside Wesleyan Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Nate Neihof will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
