Susan L Smith

Susan Lynn Smith, 59, of Marysville, died Monday, March 25, 2024 after a 12-year battle with cancer.

She was born September 25, 1964 in Mount Clemens to Marvin F. and the late Betty Lou Fredricks. Susan graduated from St. Ladislaus High School in 1982 and then earned her bachelor’s degree from the Detroit College of Business. Sue spent the first 20 years of her career at Burke Equipment, and most recently worked as Regional Property Director for Stuart Frankel Development.

While at Burke, she met David C. Smith and they were married on August 17, 2004 in St. Clair Shores. Sue was a lover of animals, especially rescued ones, and a tried-and-true Detroit Lions fan who enjoyed going to games over the years, even during the tough seasons. She also loved boating with David and doing puzzles. Sue’s most passionate endeavor, however, was being a mom. She felt incredibly blessed when her “miracle baby” was born and committed herself to being the best mom she could be.

Sue is survived by her husband, Dave; three children, Michael Smith, Rebecca (Michael) Pousha and Emily (Kenan) Heath; a granddaughter, Autumn; sister, Jennifer Kuczmarski; and her four beloved cats and dog.

Private family services have been held.
