David J Richert

January 19th, 1971 to March 29th, 2024
Obituary

David J. Richert, 53, of St. Clair, Michigan, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 29, 2024, surrounded by family.

He was born on January 19, 1971 in Port Huron, Michigan to Linda and the late David R. Richert.

David graduated from St. Clair High School and St. Clair County Community College and was self-employed as an “expert” in IT. He grew up in St. Clair and developed a large network of friends through his experiences in the food service industry, computer programming and corrective maintenance.

David had a heart as big as he was and cared deeply for his family and friends. He was willing to help at a minute’s notice no matter the time or the cost. He was a man of his word and held to the highest standard of integrity in his personal and professional life. David loved to read and was well versed and could converse on almost any topic. If you mentioned a favorite subject of his, he could tell you the names, dates, and authors of every book written on it, fill you in on loads of interesting trivia, and probably tell you details even the experts didn’t know. David also had a unique sense of humor. He loved the Far Side and found humor in things that would make a normal person cringe. David also loved C.S. Lewis and related well to the deep spiritual meanings with which Lewis filled his books. In fact, one of our last discussions was over an incident in the Chronicles of Narnia depicting one’s need to follow and obey God no matter the cost. David never backed down when a spiritual topic was brought up, whether family friend, coworker, or stranger. He was not afraid to say what he believed and did so with honesty and tact.

David also enjoyed the outdoors. He loved to go on drives in the fall to little known places and send pictures to his family of the beauty he found in God’s creation. He loved long walks in the woods with his dear little friend and sweet “puppy”, Penny. He was a hunter like his dad and was hoping to one day own a cabin “up North” in Michigan.

We are going to miss our dear brother/son. Life was never dull when he was around. We will miss his lessons in history, the humor and laughter around the table over his hysterical real life event stories, and especially his long, warm hugs whenever we came back home to visit and left again. Life will be so different without him. However, we are blessed in knowing he is home in Heaven with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and his dearest best friend in this life, his dad. We love you David and we will see you again “When we All Get to Heaven”!

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Linda E. Richert; his sisters and their husbands, Linda O. Gregory (Tom) of Virginia and Rebecca E. Mayhew (Bruce) of Florida; his beloved little dog, “Penny”; as well as a host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2024 in the Marysville Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. His longtime friend, Shaun Laurain will officiate.

Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery, Marysville.
