Gloria J Shirey

Gloria Jean Shirey, 79, of Kimball Township, died Wednesday, April 3, 2024.

She was born May 7, 1944 in Detroit to the late James and Beatrice Carlin. She married Kenneth R. Shirey on July 21, 1984 in Detroit. He preceded her in death on April 25, 2019.

Gloria worked as an activities director and social worker at Belmont Nursing Home in Harper Woods for many years prior to retirement. After her retirement, she and her husband, Kenneth, operated a profitable antique business in St. Clair County, which she actively continued on her own since 2019 and just weeks before her passing.

She is survived by her two sons, Robert R. (Sandy) Hunt and Richard (Lori) Hunt; step-son, Brian (Michelle) Shirey; grandchildren, Mary Hunt, Peter Hunt, Robert Hunt Jr., Evan Shirey and Dylan Shirey; and her faithful lab, Sam. She was preceded in death by her brother, James Watt Carlin Jr.

Cremation has taken place. No services are scheduled at this time.
