Richard A. "Rick" VanSickle

Richard Allen VanSickle, 65, of Madison Heights, died Sunday, April 7, 2024.

He was born February 10, 1959 in Port Huron to Doris A. and the late Richard A. VanSickle Sr.

He married Bonnie S. Matthews on May 23, 1981 in Port Huron. Rick worked as a retail manager for Kmart, Linens and Things and Kroger throughout his career. He was proud of providing for his family and loved nothing more than spending time with them when he wasn’t at work. Rick’s love of music spanned his lifetime, whether it was playing in the high school band, playing his home keyboard, or turning up the volume on anything that was a good beat. He also enjoyed planning and maintaining the landscaping at his home with his wife. During retirement, he took on the love of supporting the Detroit Lions and Tigers.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Bonnie; his children, Christopher, Jennifer and Raow “Rose”; granddaughter, Emma; mother, Doris Lucas; mother-in-law, Mary Jane Matthews; siblings, Richell Sloan, Robin (Ron) Cristofori, Robert (Tammy) Prause, Steve (Renee) Lucas and Joe (Jackie) Lucas; brother-in-law, Bryan (Sallie) Matthews and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dean Lucas; stepfather, George Lucas; and father-in-law, Earl “Bud” Matthews.

Visitation will be from 2-5 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2024 in the Marysville Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 11, 2024 in the Marysville Funeral Home. Pastor Brendon Aspenson of Community Wesleyan Church will officiate.

Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery, Marysville.
