Chester D Skrzypek

Chester Daniel “Chet” Skrzypek, 78, of St. Clair Township, died Friday, April 12, 2024.

He was born August 4, 1945 in Hamtramck to the late Walter and Genevieve Skrzypek and married Mary Drouillard on July 1, 1966 in Detroit.

Chester was employed as a metallurgical engineer with Chrysler for many years. He enjoyed golfing, cooking and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Clair. More than anything, he deeply loved being with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary; children, Jackie (Kevin) Werner, William (Christine) Skrzypek, Julie (the late Rob) Jayko and Janie (Mark) Matheson; 11 grandchildren, Kayla (Adam) Bohannon, Steven (Alyssa), Andrew (Daniella) and Kyle (Emily) Werner, Dylan Skrzypek, John, Daniel and Abby Jayko, Ryan (Salena), Shane and Brooke Matheson; 9 great grandchildren, Adalyn, Jaxon, Lucas, London, Sienna, Judah, Elliott, Amelia and Joshua; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jalna Skrzypek, Ruth (Len) Koelzer, Sandy Myers, Teri (Rod) Glinisty, Julie Gagliardi, Cathy (Doug) Lauzon, Dorothy (Cary) Seacat, David (Teri) Drouillard and Ann (Steve) Arendt; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gene Skrzypek; and brothers-in-law, Edmund, Joey and Leo Drouillard.

Visitation will be held from 2-5 and 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 in the Marysville Funeral Home. A time of sharing memories will take place at 7:30 p.m.

Mr. Skrzypek will lie in state from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2024 in St. Christopher Catholic Church. The Reverend James Arwady will officiate.

Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery, Marysville. Chet’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
