Vern C "June Bug" Norton Jr.

Vern Clifford “June Bug” Norton Jr., 84, of Burtchville Township, died Saturday, May 25, 2024.

He was born June 19, 1939 in Port Huron to the late Grace and Vern Norton Sr. He married Darlene (Orr) Moore on June 26, 1965 in Port Huron.

June Bug served in the National Guard and the U.S. Army. He was employed with Kimball Appliance for 67 years and also operated World of C.B. for 45 years. June Bug had a love for classic cars and was president of the Port Huron Cruisers Car Club. He also enjoyed woodworking and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Darlene; son, Andrew Norton; sister, Joan Roskey; brother-in-law, William (Nadine) Orr; sister-in-law, Gloria LaPine; best friends, Bill and Jenny Hauver; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews; special neighbors, Jim and Jane Borntrager; his wonderful boss, Nick Bondarek; special employee and friend, Tim Struble; and his feline companion, Minnie. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth and Ronald Norton.

Private graveside services were held in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron. The Reverend Dan Bakay officiated. Military honors were conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
