Obituary

Arlene Marie Soboleski, 89 of Marysville, died Monday, May 27, 2024.

She was born December 1, 1934 in Algonac to the late Paul and Anne Marie Peterson. She married William R. Soboleski, her Algonac High School sweetheart, on November 6, 1954 in Algonac and they were married for 53 years until his death on February 9, 2008.

Along with her husband, Bill, Arlene owned and operated the Pilot House Restaurant in Port Huron for many years. She also worked at Younkers later in life. Arlene was a loving mother who enjoyed attending her children’s activities. She loved crafting, sewing, going to the theatre and playing cards with her friends, especially the game “Pay the Old Lady”.

She is survived by her five children, Jeffrey Soboleski, Renee Miesse, Kenneth (Barbara) Soboleski, Gregory Soboleski and Cheryl (Larry) Jansen; six grandchildren, Sarah (Marco) Lalau, Lauren Miesse, Christopher (Jessica) Jansen, Eric Jansen (Chloe Plamondon), Anthony Soboleski and Hannah Soboleski (Tyler Sawdon); five great grandchildren, Holly Soboleski, Caio Lalau, Catalina Lalau, Ezekiel Sawdon and Samuel Soboleski; a brother, Denny Peterson; three half siblings, Rodger (Gail) Peterson, Brian (Paulette) Peterson and Paula Carter; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry and Ron Peterson.

Visitation will be 2-4 & 5-8 p.m. Thursday in the Marysville Funeral Home. A scripture service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Mrs. Soboleski will lie in state from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 31, 2024 in St. Christopher Catholic Church. The Reverend James Arwady will officiate.

Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery, Marysville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Water Hospice Home, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Dementia and Alzheimer’s Association of St. Clair County.
