Marliyn J Jones

Marilyn Jeanne Jones, 87, of Clyde Township, died Sunday, June 9, 2024.

She was born August 31, 1936 in Port Huron, the daughter of Wilber McLaughlin and Edith Roth, and sister of Thomas Brown. Her grandparents were part of the Volga Germans of Michigan’s Thumb.

Marilyn married Charles Bankson in 1952 and had two daughters, Deborah and Kristine. He died in 1954. She married Captain William J. “Bill” Jones on January 13, 1956 and had two sons, James and Michael. Bill passed in 1996.

She was well remembered as a school bus driver for the Port Huron Area School District for 21 years prior to her retirement. She was an avid antique collector and a talented crafter, specializing in basket making and floral arrangements. She loved reading, camping, decorating and showing her dogs. She also enjoyed volunteering at Mercy Hospital and was a long-time member of Faith Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her children, Deborah (Rob) Bramer, Kristine Hagen, James (Sandra) Jones and Michael (Susan) Jones; many grandchildren including, Charles, Chelsea, Matthew, Kayla and Christina; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brother, Thomas Brown; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2024 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 12 noon. The Reverend Alan J. Schwieger will officiate.

Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron. Pallbearers will be Matthew Jones, Charles Bramer, Michael Jones and Jamie Jones.
