Richard T Landschoot

Richard Thomas Landschoot, 90, of Port Huron, died Saturday, June 22, 2024.

He was born May 19, 1934 in Marysville to the late Frank and Eva Landschoot. He married Marjorie Ender on April 18, 1959 in St. John’s Lutheran Church, Port Hope.

Richard was employed at Aikman Bread for 17 years, Masco for 10 years and also owned D&E Welding. During the building of the second Blue Water Bridge, he was part of a club of gentlemen making daily trips to watch over its construction. Richard was a role model not only to his children, but also their friends, who knew him as “Big D”. He was very handy and could fix almost anything. He enjoyed solving jigsaw puzzles, camping and hunting and was a long-time member of Blue Water Aerie #3702 Fraternal Order of Eagles.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marjorie; two daughters, Stacey (Michael) Fisk and Penny (John) Walters; son, Gregory Landschoot (Cherie DeLong); 8 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Helen, Dorothy, Annie and Betty “Lucy”; and five brothers, Peter, Robert, Harold, Gerald and Raymond; and son-in-law, Kenneth DeVeny.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2024 in Trinity Lutheran Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Dr. Mark Madson will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
