Timothy John Forys, 63, of Marysville, died Wednesday, July 3, 2024.
Tim was born November 25, 1960 in Mount Clemens to the late Harold and Carmen Forys. He was raised in Pearl Beach and attended school at St. Catherine School in Algonac and Holy Cross in Marine City. After graduation, he earned a B.A.S. in Ecological Controls Technologies.
Tim dedicated much of his life to the service of his country: 8 years in the U.S. Air Force and many years in the Michigan Air National Guard. During his time in the Guard, Tim participated in Operation Noble Eagle after the September 11th attacks, and served 2 tours of duty in Iraq, earning 4 Air Force Commendation Medals and 2 Iraq Campaign Medals. He also worked for the Michigan Air National Guard at Selfridge AFB as a pest management coordinator.
Tim was a member of the Marysville American Legion Post 449, VFW New Baltimore Post 7573, and enjoyed playing softball and hockey. He was avid fan of the Detroit Red Wings, Tigers and Lions and the University of Michigan football team.
He is survived by his daughter, Amanda Thorpe; two grandchildren, Lance III and Leighton Thorpe; two brothers, Harold “Mal” (Joan) Forys and Frank Forys; brother-in-law, Jim Arpan; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Tim was preceded in death by his sister, Maria Arpan.
Visitation will be 2-5 & 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in the Marysville Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 in Marysville Funeral Home. Shaun Laurain will officiate and Darcy Flynn will eulogize.
Burial will be at Allied Veterans Cemetery, Port Huron. Pallbearers will be John Brunett, Darcy Flynn, Chris Wellman, Chris Ballor, Ken Baker and Jim Arpan. Military Honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Air Force and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
