Reinhart A "Rinie" Hrdlovich

March 29th, 1930 to July 17th, 2024

Reinhart Anthony “Rinie” Hrdlovich, 94, of Port Huron Township, died Wednesday, July 17, 2024.

He was born March 29, 1930 in Detroit to the late Louis and Emily Hrdlovich. Soon after the family moved to Breckenridge, Michigan where Rinie graduated from Breckenridge High School. It was there he excelled in football and other sports.

Reinhart was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1950. He spent time at bases in North Carolina, California, and Arizona before he traveled to South Korea where he was attached to U.S. Air Force Bases. He was honorably discharged in 1953 after returning to the United States.

He married Doreen Engelhardt on September 3, 1955 in Bay City. Rinie graduated from Michigan Technical University with a Bachelor’s degree in business administration. He was employed as an accountant and corporate controller for several Detroit area businesses. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, gardening, reading and watching Detroit sports teams. Rinie and Doreen traveled the globe with their favorite places being Hawaii and Alaska.

He was a former member of the Elks Lodge #343 and the Blue Water Sportfishing Association and a current member of Faith Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Doreen; sisters, Majel Hrdlovich and Emily Baker; sister-in-law, Lois Pretzer; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Joanne (Edmund) Sadowski; his brother, Alfred (Nelda) Hrdlovich; his brother-in-law, Rodney Baker; his sister, Rose Williams; brothers-in-law, Clarence (Irene) Engelhardt, Norbert (Kathleen) Engelhardt, Loren (Norma) Engelhardt, and Ralph Pretzer.

Inurnment will be on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in the Allied Veterans Cemetery Columbarium, Port Huron. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in Faith Lutheran Church with visitation beginning at 12:00 noon. The Reverend Mark Huff will officiate.
