Rosemary V "Rose" Hopp

March 2nd, 1935 to July 28th, 2024

Rosemary Veronica “Rose” Hopp, 89, passed away of natural causes at Marwood Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation in Port Huron, Michigan on Sunday, July 28, 2024. Rose was born to John and Veronica (Smith) Gillett on Saturday, March 2, 1935 in Port Huron, Michigan.

Rose graduated from St. Stephen Catholic High School in 1952 and from Port Huron Business College in 1953 after which she worked at Michigan Bell. On September 16, 1961 Rose married the love of her life, David Hopp Jr. They had two sons and one daughter.

Rose made time for others, volunteering to help children learn to read in the RIF program and also helping to collect donations for the March of Dimes. Rose was a happy homemaker and she loved fiercely. Some of Rose's happiest memories were of taking road trips with her parents to visit family in Chicago, IL, Sarnia, Ontario, Canada and Alpena, Michigan. Rose was also thrilled by the arrival of her grandchildren and was proud watching them grow into fine young adults.

Rose is survived by her sons, Alex Hopp of Port Huron, Michigan and Tim (Cindy) Hopp of Clearwater, Florida; daughter, Laurie Hopp of Plymouth, Michigan; and three grandchildren, David (Becky) Hopp of Clearwater, Florida, Daniel Hopp of Hagerstown, Maryland and Reina Hopp of Clearwater, Florida. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Fred (Bonnie) Hopp; and many nieces and nephews. Additionally, Rose was awaiting the arrival of her great-grandchild in January 2025.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Hopp Jr.; parents, John and Veronica Gillett; father-in-law and mother in-law, David and Ottilia Hopp; two brothers, Lawrence (Marget) Gillett and Howard (Edna) Gillett; two sisters, Elaine (Harvey) Hall and Corinne (John) Drago; as well as many brothers-in-law and sisters- in-law and their spouses; three nephews; and two nieces.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Friday, August 2, 2024 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home, 912 Lapeer Avenue, Port Huron, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Deacon Dennis Crimmins will officiate.

Burial will be in Mt. Hope Catholic Cemetery, Port Huron.
