Obituary

Dr. Timothy Joseph “Tim” North DDS, 72, of Port Huron, went to be with the Lord Monday, August 19, 2024 after battling cancer for several months.

He was born December 7, 1951 in Port Huron to the late Bertram H. “Bert” and Carmen J. North. He married Carmen Learned on August 8, 1981 in Griswold Street Baptist Church.

Tim was a 1970 graduate of Port Huron High School. He attended SC4 and then received a Bachelor’s degree from Taylor University, a Master’s degree from Ball State University and a Doctorate of Dentistry degree from the University of Michigan. He opened his office in his hometown of Port Huron, where he practiced dentistry full-time for 20 years. After retiring, he continued to help other dentists, filling in when needed.

He was a third-generation lifelong member of Griswold Street Baptist Church, where he served for 20 years as the Missions and Outreach Pastor. He and Carmen led many short-term mission trips, including Mexico, Ukraine, Nigeria and Niger, Far East Russia and Guatemala.

Tim joined the board of Life in Messiah International in 1993. He served alongside Carmen as much-loved Personnel Directors since 2004. He was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed history and music.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Carmen; his sister, Patricia North; “adopted” family, Al and Elda Haak, their children, Benji, Levi and Abi and the extended Gutierrez family; sister-in-law, Cathy (Paul) Sauve; brother-in-law, Paul (Lucy) Learned; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be from 4:30 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 22, 2024 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 23, 2024 in Griswold Street Baptist Church. The Reverend Joel Mitchell and Wes Taber of Life in Messiah will officiate. The service may be viewed by visiting the church's Facebook page.

Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Port Huron Township. Pallbearers will be Benji and Levi Haak, Ben Learned and Josh Sauve.
