Dinah L O'Dell

June 3rd, 1948 to September 5th, 2024

Dinah Lee O’Dell, 76, of Port Huron, passed away with her family by her side, Thursday, September 5, 2024.

She was born June 3, 1948 in Celina, Ohio to the late Chalmer O. and Louanna Ellis.

Dinah graduated from St. Clair High School in 1966 and was employed as a line leader with Blue Water Plastics for 40 years prior to her retirement. Dinah had a passion for knitting which led her to join the crochet knit club at Blue Water Free Methodist Church where she continued to grow in her faith and made many lifelong friends. There she made many blankets and prayer shawls for friends, relatives and donations back to the church. She loved her grandchildren dearly and had a heart for animals, enjoyed watching the hummingbirds at her feeders, adopting wild animals, spoiling her grand-pets, and knitting/donating pet mats for the humane society. Above all else her greatest accomplishment in life was her children. Dinah was a strong woman who would do anything she could to help others and make them smile. She could often be heard telling someone to "Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start over again." Giving up and giving in to life's valleys was not in her nature. She saw the bright side and always found a way to move onward and upward to the next adventure.

She is survived by three children, Nelson Lumley Jr., Marisa Jewell (Jason Wright) and Charlie O’Dell II; grandchildren, Chelsea Holtzhouse, Daylynne Marcoux, Emily Jewell and Ethan Jewell; siblings, Chalma “Rocky” (Don) Lumley and Chalmer “Mike” (Susan) Ellis; several nieces, nephews and cousins; her extended Lumley family; and fur grandbabies, Joe, Betty and Thor. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Patricia Lumley and Carra O’Dell; an infant son; a great grandson, Troy Holtzhouse; and a sister, Brenda Ellis.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Blue Water Free Methodist Church,1963 Allen Road, Smiths Creek, MI 48074, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Pastor Michael Alexander will officiate.

Burial will be with her daughter, Carra, in Woodlawn Cemetery, Marine City. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
