Paula "Sue" Halifax

July 15th, 1936 to September 30th, 2024

Paula Suzenne “Sue” Halifax, 88, of Kimball Township, passed away peacefully at home, Monday, September 30, 2024, surrounded by her family.

She was born July 15, 1936, in Davis City, Iowa, to the late Paul and Cecile Hamilton. She married William “Bill” A. Halifax, Jr., on May 28, 1955, in Port Huron. He preceded her in death on January 11, 2013.

Sue had a love for people and was known for her signature smile. She was active in her community and never hesitated to get involved in the things she cared about. She served on the Kimball Township Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary Board, was a Trustee for the Kimball Township Board, and enjoyed working with the Friends of the G. Lynn Campbell Library. Sue was a lunchroom supervisor at Sparlingville Elementary School before going on to work in the jewelry department at K-Mart.

She is survived by her children, Cynthia Halifax of Muskegon, MI; Shirley (Harold) Roskoski of Shawnee Hills, OH; Christine (Douglas) Minguski of Novi, MI; William (Susan) Halifax III of Douglasville, GA; Sherry (Jeffery) Campbell of Marysville, MI; Paula Halifax of Kansas City, MO; and her Japanese daughter Kiyoko Nishino; her grandchildren, LaJuan (Abigail) Larkin, Charles (Hillary) Crandall, Cayla (Stephen Archambault) Crandall, Corey (Rebecca Myers) Roskoski, Caitlin Roskoski, Chelsea (Austin) Bowers, Lauren (Johnnie) Danner, Brenden Campbell, and Breanna Campbell; her great grandchildren, Sophia and Aiden Bowers, Josie and Izzie Larkin, Henry and Axton Crandall, McKenzie and William Danner, and Claire Roskoski; and her sister-in-law, Carolyn Hamilton. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Francis and John (Maxine) Hamilton; and her son-in-law, Derk Bosch.

Her family would like to extend a heartfelt appreciation for her private nurse, Bonika Surline, who aided in her care for the last two years. Their bond brought so much joy to our mom on a daily basis.

Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2024, in the Marysville Funeral Home 1200 Michigan Ave, Marysville, MI 48040.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2024, in the Marysville Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 1:15pm. The Reverend Curtis Clarke of Marysville United Methodist Church will officiate.

Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery in Marysville, MI. Pallbearers will be her seven grandsons.

Memorial contributions may be made to Global Foundation for Peroxisomal Disorders (GFPD) in honor of her great granddaughter McKenzie.
