Kenneth R Wedge

Kenneth Reid Wedge, 95, a longtime resident of Marysville, died Sunday, September 29, 2024.

He was born August 31, 1929 in Croswell to the late Glenn and Ellen Wedge and spent his childhood helping on the family farm and raising and showing cattle at the Michigan State Fair. Ken met Twyla Payne on New Year’s Eve 1958 and they were married July 4, 1959 in Port Huron. She preceded him in death on August 24, 2016 after 57 years of marriage.

Kenneth graduated from Croswell High School and served in the U.S. Army, Company H Heavy Artillery, stationed in Okinawa, Japan. After returning from the service, he worked for Grand Trunk Western Railroad for 41 years until his retirement. Ken maintained a lifelong connection with his roots in the thumb area and was a longtime member of the Croswell American Legion Post 255. He also was the oldest living member of Marysville United Methodist Church at the time of his death. A very social person, Ken loved sitting down and chatting with people. He also enjoyed watching sports, especially the Detroit Tigers and Lions and Michigan State University teams.

He is survived by his children, David (Marie) Wedge, Paul Wedge, Lynne (Jack) Chechlowski, Amy Wedge and Cara (Kevin) Ellsworth; and grandchildren, Justin Chechlowski, Ryan Chechlowski, Matthew Wedge, Paul Wedge II, Tori Ellsworth and Gabe Ellsworth.

Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Sunday in the Marysville Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 7, 2024 in the Marysville Funeral Home. The Reverend Curtis Clarke will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will be in Christian Memorial Cultural Center, Peck. Pallbearers will be Ken’s family.
