Mary J Brown

March 7th, 1947 to October 3rd, 2024

Mary Josephine Kidd Brown, at the young age of 77 entered the pearly gates of heaven on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at home surrounded by family and friends.

She was born on March 7, 1947 in Port Huron, Michigan to the late Charles H. and Ruby Kidd.

Mary's greatest desire was for everyone she knew to get to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior. She loved the Lord with all of her heart and soul. She grew up serving the Lord at Mt. Olive Baptist Church where she flourished as a choir soloist and director. Many said her voice was that of an angel.

Mary was employed as a teacher’s aide at Joseph Campau School. She also worked as a nurse aide at Marwood Manor, a house keeper at Mercy Hospital, as well as a pickle packer at the pickle factory in New Haven.

Mary was a devoted mother to her five children, a wonderful grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother.

She leaves to cherish in her memory one daughter, Artemesia Y Brown; four sons, Hubert E Brown, Solomon A Brown, Rufus (Stacy) L Brown and Matthew A. Brown; sisters, Savalia Rivers, Betty (John) McFadden and Maxine Kidd; brother, William H Kidd; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends, including, Tony B. Carson, Calissa M. Wickings, Ann M. Jansen and Penny Zinzo.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Kidd, Claudius Kidd, Hubert Kidd, Marvin Kidd, John Kidd Sr., Rufus Kidd, Roosevelt Kidd and Jeffrey Kidd; and one sister, Ruby Shepard.

Funeral services will be held for family and friends at 12 noon on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at West Haven Kingdom Now, located at 4070 West Water Street, Port Huron with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Apostle Brian Rivers will officiate.

Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron. A repast will immediately follow at West Haven Kingdom Now, 4070 West Water St., Port Huron.
