Ruth "Tena" Ainsworth

October 16th, 1941 to November 4th, 2024

Ruth “Tena” Ainsworth, 83, of Ruby, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 4, 2024.

She was born October 16, 1941 in Detroit to the late Edward and Ruth Burtch. The Burtch family moved to the Port Huron area when Ruth was young and she attended Port Huron Schools. Through the Blue Water Fife and Drum Corps that their families were active in, Ruth and Robert Lee Ainsworth met and fell in love. They were married February 21, 1959 in Port Huron, Michigan.

Ruth was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and had much love to share with all who knew her. She retired from Yale Public Schools after 32 years of working at Ruby, Emmett and Avoca Elementaries, where she watched over and touched the hearts of many little people as well as co-workers. After her retirement she enjoyed spending her time with family, working on genealogy research and being a member of the Clyde Historical Society. She also loved watching the Hallmark Channel.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Robert “Bob”; three children, Andrea (Liza) Ainsworth, Beth (Ron) Barr, and Julie (Mike) Hillis; four grandchildren, Bobby (Camille) Maskell, Nicole (John) Hineline, Katelyn (Tommy) Longo and Molly Hillis; four great grandchildren, Audrey, Emma, Rosalie, and Ila; two siblings, Daniel (Bessie) Burtch and Edward Burtch; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Matthew, Jim and William.

As we remember Ruth, we will celebrate a life filled with grace, love and quiet strength (sometimes not so quiet) that will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to share a page in her story.

A graveside service will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at Ruby Cemetery, Clyde Township followed by a luncheon at the Ruby Lion’s Hall.

In remembrance of Ruth’s life and love, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to the Clyde Historical Society, Ruby Lions, or McLaren Hospice.
