Donald H "Butch" Scott

Donald Henry “Butch” Scott, 86, of Marysville, died Monday, November 18, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on June 4, 1938 in Port Huron to the late Henry and Margaret Scott and married Doris Durrant on July 25, 1958.

Don was a chemist with Mueller Brass for 43 years before retiring in 2001. He enjoyed playing sports, especially handball, golf and softball; and volunteered at the YMCA teaching gymnastics and volleyball. In fact, Don was instrumental in bringing volleyball to the Blue Water area, leading to his nickname of “Mr. Volleyball”. Don was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Moose Lodge #158 and Fraternal of Eagles Blue Water Aerie #3702.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Doris; children, Karen (Gary) Jones and Mark Scott Sr. (Kathy Shin-Sheets); grandchildren, Gary (Valerie) Jones III, Nicholas (Meaghan) Jones, Corey (Stephanie) Jones, Mark Scott II, and Zachary Shin; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Agnes Wise and Julie Averll; and a special niece, Julie Pettee. He was preceded in death by a sister, Charlene Lane; step-mother, Helen Scott; step-father, Harvey Miller; parents-in-law, Lionel and Vera Durrant; and sister-in-law, Joan Gronek.

Private family graveside services have been held at Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron.
