James A Gorcyca

James A. Gorcyca, 84, of Marysville, died Wednesday, December 11, 2024.

He was born June 3, 1940 in Detroit to the late Stanley and Julia Gorcyca. He married Katheryn Reed on September 18, 1965 in Dearborn.

Mr. Gorcyca graduated from the University of Detroit with a degree in Electrical Engineering. For many years he was Principal Owner of WKM Associates Inc.

James enjoyed sailing the Windy K out of the North Star Sail Club and won his class of the Port Huron to Mackinac Sailboat Race in 1994. He also liked to golf and fish.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Kathy; two children, Brian Gorcyca and Wendy (Ken) Krill; four grandchildren, Sarah and Ben Gorcyca, Kevin and Olivia Krill; brother, Tom (Judy) Gorcyca; and several nieces and nephews, Debbie (Dave) Crawford, Dave (Lisa) Gorcyca, Paul Gorcyca, Lynn (Bruce) Trout, Jeff (Jennifer) Gorcyca, Chris (Felicia) Gorcyca and Jill (Roger) Dourlet.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Gerry Gorcyca.

Visitation will be 2-5 pm Sunday, December 15, 2024 in the Marysville Funeral Home.

Mr. Gorcyca will lie in state from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am on Monday, December 16, 2024 in St. Christopher Catholic Church, Marysville. The Reverend James Arwady will officiate.

Inurnment will be in the Riverlawn Cemetery, Columbarium.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
