Harriet A "Lois" Taylor

December 17th, 1937 to December 18th, 2024

Harriet Lois Ann Pellow-Taylor, 87, of Lexington, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2024.

She was born December 17, 1937 at her grandmother’s home in Royal Oak to the late Walter and Harriet Charles. She married Ronald T. Pellow on January 16th, 1954, and remained so for 50 years until his death on February 12, 2004. She met Gerald Taylor in Florida, and they were married on February 15, 2015. He preceded her in death on December 7, 2017.

From very early on, Lois knew she wanted to be a wife and mother. She spent her entire life selflessly taking care of others, was always happy doing so, never looked back, and never stopped giving. Along with her own family, she also watched over children as a school lunch supervisor for several years, frequently babysat for many more, and constantly had her grandchildren, their friends, and neighborhood kids at her home. To all that knew her, Lois always told you what she thought, and “if you didn’t like it, you wouldn’t come back for more.” Her blunt honesty let you know where you stood and undoubtedly that she loved you.

She is survived by her “kids”: three daughters, Connie (James) Patenaude, Cheryl Pellow, and Dawn (William) Adkins; four grandchildren, Russell (Joanne) Patenaude, Angela Chappell, Julia (Dan) Forrester, and Veronica (Adam) Witkowski; five great grandchildren, Madison, Mackenzie, Tori, Drew and Connor; sister, Jackie (Darrell) Edwards; brother, Stan (Judy) Barber; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Russell Barber; grandson, James Patenaude; granddaughter, Renea Adkins; and grandson-in-law, Jay Chappell.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Monday, December 23, 2024 at Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Russell Patenaude, Lois’s grandson, will officiate.

Burial will be at Christian Memorial Cultural Center, Rochester.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
