James Lee Wilson, 68, of Port Huron, died Tuesday, December 31, 2024.

He was born November 27, 1956 in Detroit to the late Carl and Carrie Wilson. He married Marcie May on April 7, 2006 in Port Huron.

Jim received his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Michigan State University and Law Degree from Wayne State University. He dedicated over 30 years of his life as the general manager of Blue Water Area Transit and retired February 21, 2021. He is credited with a vast list of improvements to the transit system, which include the bus transfer center, growing the system to 90 buses and a staff of 130. He also led the effort to separate the county from the SMART bus system, thus establishing the current BWAT. Outside of work, Jim was involved in the community and was a past president of the Hi-Noon Toastmasters and a longtime member and past president of The ARC of St. Clair County. Jim was an avid fan of the Grateful Dead and attended over 90 concerts throughout the years and enjoyed golfing and wintering in Naples, Florida.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Marcie; children, Craig Schlinkert, Katie (Adam) Markel and Betsy (Andrew) Wetzel; grandchildren, Stella Wetzel, Lukas Markel, Sophia Wetzel and Harper Markel; brother, Jerry Wilson; sisters, Susan (Michael) Davis and Nancy Wilson; several nieces nephews and cousins; and his beloved English Shepherd, Teddy May.

A memorial visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2025 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home with a time of sharing at 6:30 p.m.

Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Port Huron Township at a later date.
