Robert D "Bob" Sharpe Sr.
Robert Donald “Bob” Sharpe Sr., 80, of Marysville, formerly of Independence, Kentucky, died Wednesday, January 29, 2025.
He was born July 16, 1944 in Port Huron to the late Rudolph and Emma Sharp and graduated from Port Huron High School and St. Clair County Community College.
Bob served in the U.S. Air Force in Vietnam and in the Reserves upon his return. He married Nancy H. Schoenrock on March 5, 1969 in Lansing and they were married for 53 years until her death on January 25, 2023. Bob spent his career in conveyor belt sales.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 4 in Florence, Kentucky and enjoyed fishing, boating and betting on horse races. Always fiddling, Bob was self-admittedly better at tearing things apart than fixing them. He especially enjoyed time on his Kubota tractor.
Bob is survived by six children, Tami (Mike) McKenney, Clint (Lori) Paterson, Brenda Thomas, Robert D. “Rob” (Debbie) Sharpe Jr., Steve (Nancy) Sharpe and Robyn Johnson; 18 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and one great great grandson; sister, Gloria King; brother, Rudy Sharp; sister-in-law, Peggy Schoenrock; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Patrick McKenney; a sister-in-law, Paula Sharp; and two brothers-in-law, Fred and Ike Schoenrock.
Graveside committal services at Lakeside Cemetery in Port Huron will be announced in the spring. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the United States Air Force and St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
