June "Maxine" LaVere

June “Maxine” LaVere, 96, of Fort Gratiot, died Monday, February 3, 2025.

She was born December 7, 1928 in Kimball Township to the late Chelsea and Lucy McIvor. She married George LaVere on August 26, 1950 in Port Huron. He preceded her in death on August 29, 2004 after 54 years of marriage.

Maxine enjoyed bowling, playing euchre and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. She was a member of the Moose Lodge, lifetime member of the V.F.W. Charles Schoor Post #796 and longtime member of Westminster Church of Port Huron.

She is survived by her children, Karen LaVere Watzek and George “Dean” (Janet) LaVere, Jr.; six grandchildren, Erich Ross, Heather Neff, Amanda Ward, Stephanie LaVere, Michael LaVere and Ashley LaVere; and seven great grandchildren, Madison and Courtney Ross, Patrick and Arthur Riley, Matilda Maxine Neff, Luke and Penny Ward.

Private family services have been held.

Inurnment was in the Allied Veterans Cemetery Columbarium, Port Huron.
