Charles "Lawrence" Hicks Sr

Charles “Lawrence” Hicks Sr., 82, of Fort Gratiot, passed away suddenly Monday, February 17, 2025.

He was born July 26, 1942 in Port Huron to the late Willard F. and Genevieve Hicks. He married Mary Ward on December 12, 1980 in Port Huron.

Lawrence served honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era. After returning from the service, he worked as a conductor with Grand Trunk Western Railroad until his retirement.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary; son, Charles (Beth) Hicks Jr.; daughter, Tina Thieke; step-children, Duane Bailey, Ken Bailey, Randy Bailey, and Cynthia Sparr; nephew, Barry Hicks; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Stroshein; and brother, William “Billy” Hicks.

Graveside committal services and Military Honors will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly.
