Sidney R McIntyre
Sidney Robert McIntyre, 92, of Fort Gratiot, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2025.
He was born September 21, 1932 in Jeddo to the late John and Ethel McIntyre.
He married Carole L. Hill on July 25, 1959 in Port Huron. She preceded him in death on May 7, 1998 after 38 years of marriage.
Sidney began his career at just 17, hauling gravel with his own truck for the St. Clair County Road Commission. His work was briefly interrupted when he was drafted into the U.S. Army and sent to Korea, where he served for two years, returning home as a Sergeant. After his service, he continued driving his own truck for over 50 years until his retirement in 1995. In addition to his trucking career, he dedicated his spare time to farming wheat and soybeans. He was a life member of V.F.W. Charles Schoor Post #796 and a member of American Legion Charles Hammond Post # 8. He enjoyed trips to the casino, camping, deer and pheasant hunting and relaxing with his pipe.
He is survived by three grandchildren, Theresa McIntyre, Robert McIntyre and Jennifer (James) McNaughton; five great grandchildren, Miranda (Steven), Avery, Mandy, Molly and Mya; his partner of 25 years, Karen Angebrandt and her children, Lori (Ivan) Messing, Lea (Jerry) Lentz and Daniel (Kelly) Angebrandt; sister-in-law, Charlotte McIntyre; brother-in-law, Bob Schuman; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four children, Sidney, Robert, Brenda and Dana; brother, Howard; and sister, Betty.
Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2025 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 3:00 p.m. The Reverend Shaun Laurain will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fort Gratiot.
