Frederick Phare

Frederick William “Fred” Phare, 86, of Lakeport, died Thursday, April 19, 2012.
He was born January 7, 1926 in Port Huron to the late Thomas and Jemina Phare. He married Shirley June Wilton on August 9, 1946 in Port Huron.
Mr. Phare retired from Port Huron Paper, now Domtar, in 1986 as Director of Personnel after 38 years of service. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of Gratiot Park United Methodist Church, was a sports enthusiast and loved gardening. Fred was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, June; four children, Deborah Mosher, Thomas (Marsha) Phare, Fred (Lucy) Phare and Tim (Patricia) Phare; six grandchildren, Clinton Mosher, Cori (Paul) Kennedy, Thomas (Suzanne) Phare, William (Samantha) Phare, Kathryn (Nathan) Batchelder and Lisa Phare; four great grandchildren; a brother, Albert (Donna) Phare; a sister, Doris (Hadley) Hurford; a sister-in-law, Betty Phare; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence, Roy and Walter Phare; and a sister, Pearl Wilton.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Sunday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 23, 2012 in Gratiot Park United Methodist Church. The Reverend Robert Chapman will officiate.
Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Gratiot Park United Methodist Church or the Salvation Army.
