Mary J Sams

Mary Jane Sams, 95, of Lexington, formerly of Port Huron, died Sunday, April 6, 2025.

She was born January 18, 1930 in Meta, Missouri to the late George and Sadie Kalaf. She married Archie L. Sams on May 30, 1953. He preceded her in death on October 31, 2009 after 56 years of marriage.

Mary was employed as the executive secretary to the St. County Administrator for many years before her retirement. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and watching the Game Show Network and daily Mass on T.V.

She is survived by two children, Steven (Paula) Sams and Carol (Mark) Krainbrink; two sons-in-law, Greg Reynolds and Steven Arnold; nine grandchildren, Merissa Boyd, Shauna (Will) Cusac, Chad Krainbrink (Stephanie Austin), Brian Arnold, Patrick Arnold, Cody Reynolds, Catilin Reynolds, Matthew Sams and Michael Sams; one great granddaughter, Olivia Cusac; four siblings, Alice Fincher, Lorraine Kloeppel, George (Janice) Kalaf and Gloria Weston; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Judith Reynolds and Pamela Arnold.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2025 in St. Mary Catholic Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Zbigniew Zomerfeld will officiate.

Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Port Huron. Mary’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
