Maria "Mary" Marcaccio

Maria “Mary” Marcaccio, 89, of Fort Gratiot, died Wednesday, April 16, 2025.

She was born September 20, 1935 in Benevento, Italy to the late Nicola and Oresta D’Andrea. She married John C. “Jay” Marcaccio on August 11, 1956 in Detroit. He preceded her in death on September 27, 2020 after 64 years of marriage.

Mary was a devoted member of St. Edward on the Lake Catholic Church and the St. Thecla Senior Club. Her deep faith was reflected in her daily recitation of the Rosary and her unwavering devotion to the Blessed Mother. Mary was an extraordinary homemaker and caregiver. She was a gifted seamstress and an exceptional cook, best known for her delicious homemade pasta. Her kitchen was always filled with warmth, love-and enough food to feed an army.

She is survived by daughters, Maryann Barnes and Linda (Dr. Zubin) Bhesania; grandchildren, Mark (Natalie) Barnes, Erika (Alex) Buellesbach, Kylie Bhesania and Marissa Bhesania; great grandchildren, Alexandra and Audrey Barnes; and two sisters, Rosanna and Anna. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Palombino Angelina.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 21, 2025 in St. Edward on the Lake Catholic Church with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. The Reverend Lee Acervo will officiate.

Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron.
