Richard L. Mertz, 91, of Marysville, died Thursday, May 8, 2025

He was born May 1, 1934 in Port Huron to the late Goldie and Herbert Mertz Sr. He married Marilyn J. Engle on April 8, 1967 in Algonac. She preceded him in death on August 9, 2020 after 53 years of marriage.

Richard was employed as a truck driver for Teamsters Local 339 for many years before his retirement. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his son, Richard (Kim) Mertz; stepson, Gary L. McIntyre; grandchildren, Lisa, Michael and Lauren; sister, Beverly (Glen) Coon; two brothers, Roger (Sue) Mertz and Robert (Jackie) Mertz; two sisters-in-law, Eva Mertz and Joan Mertz; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Constance; and two brothers, Herbert Jr. and Michael.

Graveside services will be held at Riverlawn Cemetery at a later date.
