Linda L Downing

Linda Lee Downing, 78, of Port Huron, died Wednesday, June 4, 2025.

She was born March 30, 1947 in Port Huron to the late Christian and Dorothy Schneider. She married John Downing on November 26, 1966 at St Paul Lutheran Church in Port Huron.

Along with her husband, Linda owned and operated Crystal Clean for many years. She enjoyed roller skating, scrapbooking, journaling and going to dinner and the movies on Friday nights with her husband. She also loved spending time working in and enjoying her backyard garden and pond.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Harold “John” Downing; three children, Christopher (Lisa) Downing, H. John (Alley) Downing and Jennifer (Bryan) Smarch; eight grandchildren, Nicole (Mike) Smith, Andrew (Courtney) Downing, Jack Smarch, Ava Smarch, J.R. Smarch, Belinda Justin, Shaun Carl and Randy Carl; four great grandchildren, Carter Smith, Grayson Downing, Tatum Downing and Aryia Justin; siblings, SueEllen Emig, Jane (Mark) Dennis, Tom (Joy) Schneider, Mary Leitch and Jim Schneider; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six siblings, Ed, Chuck, Dave, infant Alex, John and Careen.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Reverend Branden Hunt will officiate.

Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Port Huron Township. Pallbearers will be her family.
