Raymond A Sutphen

November 16th, 1940 to June 6th, 2025

Raymond Allen “Ray” Sutphen, 84, of Goodells, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 6, 2025.

He was born November 16, 1940 in Goodells to the late Robert and Viola Sutphen. He married Evelyn H. “Evie” Jahn on June 11, 1960 in First Baptist Church of Goodells.

Ray owned and operated 3-R Manufacturing. He spent every day at the shop as he and the family called it. He built the family home on land from his grandparents, and continued to work on it as he and Evie entered different phases of their life. Ray was a member of First Baptist Church of Goodells, which he also helped build. Ray was personable and loved by all. He helped everyone and expected nothing in return. He enjoyed gardening, growing fruit trees, going to auctions, and taking Sunday drives. He was very mechanical and was often repairing small engines that others didn’t expect to ever work again.

He is survived by his wife of almost 65 years, Evelyn “Evie”; three children, Dru (Marshall) Runnals, Teresa (Dennis) Sparling and RaeAnn (Jeff) Hilla; ten grandchildren, Eric Runnals, Andy (Jen) Runnals, Adam (Micaela) Runnals, Lydia Runnals, Alex (Grace Turpin) Runnals, Noah Runnals, Nathanael (April) Sparling, April Lyn (Alfonse Lia) Sparling, Matthew (Courtney Kavanaugh) Hilla and Michael (Caitlyn Burdick) Hilla; ten great grandchildren; and two siblings, Robert “Rob” (Janet) Sutphen and Ruth Ann (Woodrow) Nelson. He was preceded in death by two siblings, Richard (Norma) Sutphen and Rosemary Sutphen; and two grandsons, Joshua and Caleb Runnals.

Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2025 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday, June 12, 2025 in First Baptist Church of Goodells with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. The Reverend Matthew Crow will officiate.

Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Matthew, Adam, Michael, Alex, Logan and Noah. Honorary pallbearer will be Andy.
